The Busy Buzzy Clan

Here is a picture of Josh swimming his horse in a Lake this summer on the ward trail ride. Marlee and He went swimming in the lake on horseback.....it was a very hot day. Mar's horse went a little deep and she just floated to the top and swam to shore. They are great little swimmers and very comfortable on their horses. They ride like real cowboys...always on the run. Josh worked at a horseback riding stable this summer across the road from our house. Tips were great.

"Welcome to my web," said the spider to the fly...

I'm creating this blog to help me keep a journal of my family's activities and to share with you some of the things that happen in our lives, our special interests and all that goes on here on the ranch.
First of all, let me explain why I'm a "Groovin' Granny". I am old enough to be the mother of eight and the grandmother of 27 grandchildren. I do my best to keep up with them but sometimes it gets a little difficult as I still have a life of my own and I am busy trying to keep up with my husband Broyce of 42 years, who still works on the ranch and dabbles in politics.

We live on a ranch nestled in the shadow of Old Chief Mountain. Because I am an American and I live in Canada and Chief is located in the U.S., I call it "my mountain" and it keeps me from getting homesick for my native land...knowing it is only 10 miles away as the crow flies. These are our cows and our land.

I guess Chief is one of the most photographed mountains in the world...and as I was surfing the web one day I found this picture taken on our road by a photographer. (World Traveler) Our house is on the left. He was right on our road. Everything as far as the dark green is our land. We took one from the same spot....looks the same

I always say...."If Canada wasn't such a beautiful place, I couldn't stay here, because it is so far from home. But I have to admit, it has been a wonderful place to raise our family and make our home.

I have many hobbies. I go around in circles from one to the next. Lately I have been trying to master some knitting....inspired by my daughter Jacqueline's obsession. She is quite an amazing knitter, .....and mother..... and blogger. Well she does alot of things and does them well. Anyway I am on my 3rd pair of knitted socks and I am becoming addicted...but I try to only knit while traveling. The 1st pair are really funny...and took me forever. The second pair almost perfect. The 3rd pair....they're coming along really nice. My knitting has improved tremendously and I don't think I have any mistakes. However Jacqueline will probably be able to spot some. She is quite a perfectionist. Another hobby is making bags....like totes. I seem to give them away as fast as I make them though. Quilting has also been a favorite past time. I always have said it is my tension reliever....but lately I have found no time for that. Another hobby I used to do was genealogy. It obsessed me for a while and the folks upstairs got my number and wouldn't let me sleep so I'd stay up looking for names all night. Lately I've had to slack off and they haven't been bothering me....but I do love doing it. It will have to wait for a later date.

I won something.....Believe it or not. I don't know how, but it is a trip for 2 to Hawaii ,Broyce and I will be leaving on Monday, Nov. 26 for 2 weeks. Our trip is for one week on Ohahu, so as long as our flight was paid, I thought we should take in an extra week. I think we will go to the Big Island and tour it for the 2nd week or maybe a few days then Mauai.
I guess I could fill up my blog with pictures of all my grand kids...Maybe I'll just update you on a few of the families I have on my computer. I'm sorry I don't have them all.

Jolene and Jeff live in Cardston with their 5 children. Oldest son Brandon graduated from H.S. and is getting ready to go on a Mission when he turns 19 in May. This is a couple of years ago, but they're all there .

(Breanne, Brandon, Camden, Ashlyn and Dylan)

Troy and Stacy live in Mountain View and Troy has kind of taken over the ranch. We are just the cheap farm labor. This is also their family a year or two ago. The baby will be 3 in March.

(The kids starting left are: Marlee, Taylor, Nick and Josh)
( Couldn't resist adding Marlee & Taylor again)

Jacqueline & Ed live in Calgary where Ed is an accountant for Agrium. This is at our Family Photo booth this summer at the Jacobs Reunion.

(Left to right: Austen, Erica, Lincoln, Ed, Jacqueline, Miranda and Bentley). They're a fun loving busy family who snow ski all winter and water ski all summer.

I think Jacqueline was a bit insulted at her lovely family picture...because they really are a beautiful family & that other picture didn't do them justice. It was all I had on the computer when I first did my Blog. This is the real Baines Bunch.
Austen, Bentley,Edward, Erica, Jacqueline, Miranda and Lincoln.

Jeff's family...I would bet I don't have a family photo on the computer...but Jeff has a State Farm Insurance business in Lethbridge and they have 5 adorable kids .
I found this picture. Not a great copy and they arn't all here. Baby Ruey isn't quite born yet ...she was due in about a week probably. There is a picture below of Ruey. From Left to right are:Seth, Lasca, Luke, Top: Mom Aubrey, Allie and Jeff.

Luke Dalton & Lasca ..Allie Mae & Jeff

Seth and the baby is Ruey

Next in the family lineup comes Dereck. The best way to see their family is to visit Adree's blog.....even though the last time I looked she hadn't updated it for a long time. It is always great to read her archives and see her beautiful little girls.

Kate and Kiara

I enjoy going back in the archives over & over and looking at the girls. Dereck and Adrienne live in Sandy and Dereck works for Zions Bank...Oversees most of the eastern states so travels about 1 week / month and is also very busy working on his Masters Degree at the U of U..

I can't find my file with Dereck's pictures in it...so I truly invite you to click Adree's blog ....They have the most gorgeous little girls.....and are a very happy family.

Chris and Amanda still live in New Mexico.....oh, so far away. It was nice to have them come home for a visit this summer. Chris just couldn't seem to get enough of Waterton Park and they went hiking every day. Chris drives truck for Conway trucking and they have two little boys...Jaedin and Riley Ray. We also enjoyed spending a week with them at St. George last Spring....our annual Spring Pilgrimage. I think we only rented 3 condosthis year, and everyone but Jeff, Jacqueline and Troy's family joined us. Jolene & Jeff were in Costa Rica so Broyce & I took their kids with us.

Candice, Randy & Danny live in Grande Prairie ...way too far North. But Randy builds houses and that's where the boom is. This is their present home. Randy's first fireplace. They seem to move to a new house every year or so. We are so happy to have Danny in our family. He is a mighty cute little guy.

More St. George................................................

I can't believe I don't have recent photo's of Paula and Brett.

Brett is an Engineer and works for Fluor in Calgary. They have 3 wee ones....Jenna, Keyrai, and Anya. We are very sad that they are moving to Toledo, Ohio...on Monday for 4months on a job...We will miss them. They only live in Calgary right now. But I guess it is a great opportunity for them right now while their family is young. I hope the time goes quickly.

There is lots more I wanted to do with this blog, but that is for another time. I will post this and hope you all get caught in my web and learn about my family.
